When it comes to RV traveling your choices are endless. The best part about traveling in California is the sheer beauty of California. You can experience the beach, mountains, desert, lakes, farm land, wine country, etc.
Below is a small list of some of our favorite stays throughout California. Each of these RV locations listed below are very different, each trip had a special purpose, but each trip was just phenomenal. Each location was family friendly, RV friendly and did not require a vehicle besides our RV.
Meeks Bay Campground
We were lucky enough to score a last minute stay at Meeks Bay Campground in South Lake Tahoe. The location was just perfect! It was quiet, right in the middle of nature and the views were spectacular. Meeks Bay Campground is located just between 2 California State Parks (Sugar Point Park and DL Bliss). This location is perfect for day hiking, backpacking or spending a relaxing day at the bay. You can swim, kayak or take out your stand-up paddleboard. Each site has it's own BBQ and a fire ring. We enjoyed a nice camp fire nightly and even enjoyed s'mores with our RV neighbor.
KOA Campground Moss Landing
This campground is located in a nice quaint area of Monterey Bay. Moss Landing is a nature-lover's paradise, founded in the 1800's as a seaport and fishing village. The campground location was great. It was walking distance to the beach, a scenic nature tour, and near-by restaurants. From the RV park you can easily walk to catch a whale-watching cruise and other activities. The food in this small town was absolutely amazing! This is a perfect spot to rest, relax and re-group; you are a short 20 minute drive to Santa Cruz or Monterey.
Pismo Coast Village RV Resort
This beautiful location is right in the heart of Pismo Beach. Location is the key here! You get to experience a unique RV camping experience. You are walking distance to downtown Pismo Beach, close to shopping areas, restaurants and Pismo Pier. You can relax to the sound of waves crashing and the cool ocean breeze.
Paradise By The Sea RV
Paradise By The Sea RV park is located in Oceanside. This campground is right next to Buccaneer Park and Oceanside beach. You can walk through the campground to get to the beach without ever needing a car or a bike to get there! The beach has a playground, basketball courts, picnic area and a beach cafe. You can surf at the beach, fish from the Oceanside Pier or enjoy a beautiful walk.
Mountain Lakes Resort
Mountain Lakes Resort is located in the San Bernardino National Forest. This campground is nestled away in the mountain area of Lytle Creek. We love this campground! This is the perfect place to spend with your family. With 2 fully stocked ponds you can fish for Trout during cooler months and fish for catfish during the warmer months. You can swim, kids can enjoy the splash pad. You can enjoy paddle boats or miniature golf. You can explore, go on a mountain bike ride or even go off-roading and explore. You feel so far away from the city without being that far.
